Record the exact barrel imprint, cap-band text, nib markings, filling system, capped length, color and material. Photograph the pen in even light with the cap on, cap off, nib close-up and filling mechanism visible.

- Treat filling-system condition as part of the purchase price.
- Check cap fit, barrel threads, trim wear and material stability.
- Confirm whether the nib, feed and cap appear correct for the model.
How to approach value
Compare like with like. A serviced user-grade pen, an unrestored project and an unusually scarce color are not interchangeable market references. Completed sales are more useful than unsold asking prices, but still require condition and originality context.
Collector caution: Brand pages narrow identification. Expensive examples deserve model-specific references and specialist authentication.
